  • Assist in the kitchen with meal prep and serving 
  • Clean tables and wipe down chairs after guests have eaten 
  • Direct guests in proper movement to ensure social distancing is followed

  • Work with staff to monitor guests in hospitality center and assist with providing services offered – faxes, phones, laundry, lockers for shelter guests 
  • Help guests follow procedures for safety guidelines

Food Pantry Assistant

A food pantry assistant is an individual that helps move things along in a food pantry. He or she aids managers and coordinators so that they can ensure smooth operations of the pantry. Some of the responsibilities include: 

  • Help organize, stock the shelves, and pack food boxes for those in need of assistance
  • Make sure that received food is sorted, stocked, and stored in an appropriate manner
  • Ensure proper refrigeration of frozen items and perform rotation duties as necessary
  • Must be able to speak casually and comfortably with clients when they arrive
  • Office/computer work

Our food pantry is open Mondays & Wednesdays, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. We are looking for 4 long term volunteers, 3 hours each day for either the morning shift from 10:00am - 1:00pm or the afternoon shift from 1:00pm - 4:00pm.

Truck Delivery Assistant

The Salvation Army in Albany, NY strives to serve to meet the need of our community with love, compassion, and without discrimination. Every first and third Friday of the month we have large food deliveries to our door, and we need the assistance of 3-5 people to help us do the following:

  • Assist with unloading the food off the truck
  • Inventory the items using the order form
  • Organize and stock the items in the different food pantry rooms

First and Third Friday of every month (unless otherwise notified) from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.

Must be able to lift 5-10 pounds, must be able to stand on feet, teamwork
